毎日の目標 Everyday Goals
いまだかつて、だれも神を見た者はありません。もし私たちが互いに愛し合うなら、神は私たちのうちにおられ、神の愛が私たちのうちに全うされるのです。(第一ヨハネ4:12)
あなたの見ているとおり、彼の信仰は彼の行ないとともに働いたのであり、信仰は行ないによって全うされたのです。(ヤコブ2:22)
聖書を読んでいると、「全うされる」という表現がよく出てくることに気づきます。 一つ目の引用では、私たちが互いに愛し合うなら、神の愛が私たちのうちに「全うされる」とあります。二つ目の引用では、アブラハムがその子イサクを捧げることによって自分の信仰を示したことから、彼の信仰は行ないによって「全うされた」となっています。
この二つの例で使われている「全うされる」の原語の意味は、「完了する」「目標を達成する」「完璧にする」というものです。クリスチャンの人生には目標があります。私たちはその目標を意識することもあれば、しないときもあります。しかし、完了するべき計画があることは確かです。その計画は、私たちがゴールに到達するまで競走のように続きます。 私たちは普段の生活の中で小さな目標と課題をたくさん掲げていますが、信仰の旅路はもっと長く永遠に続くようにも思えます。そのため主なる神への信仰を保つには忍耐が必要です。しかし、私たちにも達成できる小さな目標があるので、私たちはそれを信じていけばよいのです。
例えば、私たちが他の人を愛するとき、私たちは神の愛の目標を達成しています。 神は私たちに愛をくださいます。その愛を私たちが他の人にも与えるとき、神の愛はその目標を達成したことになります。 神は私たちが信仰を持つことを願っておられますが、それを行為によって示すときに信仰は完成されます。 愛の目標は、その愛を他の人にも分かるように表現することです。 信仰の目標は、その信仰を行為へと移すことなのです。
それをよく理解して私たちが他の人に気を配るなら、それによって神の目標を毎日達成することになります。そう考えると勇気づけられますよね。私たちの行為が神を信頼していることを示すたびに、私たちは信仰の働きを完了したことになるのです。私たちは毎日素晴らしいことを成し遂げることができます。つまり、神が私たちに与えられた目標を達成することができるのです。
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. (1 John 4:12)
You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. (James 2:22)
A phrase always jumps out at me when I read the Bible: “made complete”. If we love one another God’s love is made complete in us. In the second example, Abraham took the action of almost sacrificing his son to show his faith. His actions made faith complete.
Looking at the original word used in these cases, it means “to finish, to reach the goal, to make perfect.” We might not always feel it, but the Christian life has goals. There are projects that need to be completed. There are races to run until we cross the finish line. Our daily life has many small goals and tasks but it often feels like our journey of faith just goes on forever. While we need endurance to keep our faith steady in the Lord, there are smaller reachable goals to what we believe.
When we love other people, we are completing a goal for God’s love. He gives us his love but we somehow complete the purpose for his love when we show it to others. God wants us to have faith in him, but when we put it into actions, we are completing our faith. The goal of love is to express it to others. The goal of faith is to put that faith into actions.
When we know that, it might be encouraging to think that we are completing the purposes of God each day when we care for others. We are finishing the task of faith each time our actions show we trust in God. We can accomplish great things each day. We can meet the goals God has given us.
