著者であり教師である Author and Teacher
この賜物について話すには、人の知恵に教えられたことばを用いず、御霊に教えられたことばを用います。その御霊のことばをもって御霊のことを解くのです。(第一コリント2:13)
今週の日曜礼拝では、イエスの昇天後に神がどのようにしてイエスの弟子たちに聖霊を遣わしたのか、ということを学びました。キリストを信じる者として私たちも、聖霊の賜物が私たちの中で働かれるのを受け入れることができます。しかしそのように信じていても、聖霊の存在や聖霊がしてくださることに気づいていない人が多いのです。聖霊はまったき意味での神であり、三位一体の神（父・子・聖霊）の位格のひとつです。聖霊は私たちに力と能力と慰めを与えてくださいます。でも聖霊の最も重要な役割のひとつは、私たちをあらゆる真理へと導いてくださるということです。聖霊は数多くの著者たちに霊感を与えて聖書の言葉を書かせました。
私たちは聖書の背景を理解していないから、あるいは聖書を読む経験が十分でないから、聖書の言葉を理解できないのだ、と感じるかもしれません。しかし聖霊自らが聖書の意味することを私たちに語ってくださいます。本来、聖霊は聖書の著者です。ある本をその著者の隣に座って読むところを想像してみてください。あなたは著者が何を言いたいのかを著者本人に尋ねることができます。そしてそこで読み取ったことにどのように応答すればよいかも教えてもらえます。それこそ私たちが聖霊と共にしていることなのです。聖霊は神の言葉の霊感であり著者でもあります。その聖霊が私たちのそばに座って、いつでも神の真理を私たちに説明してくださるのです。そんな素晴らしい助け手がそばにいるのですから、私たちは聖書を読むときに神の真理を説明してくれるよう聖霊にお願いすればよいのです。そうすれば聖霊は、人間の能力を超えた知恵を与えてくださり、神の霊的真実の奥義を解き明かしてくださいます。

On Sunday we learned about how God sent his Holy Spirit to his disciples after he ascended to heaven. As believers in Christ, we too can receive the gift of the Holy Spirit to work in us. Yet many believers are not aware of the Holy Spirit and what he does. The Holy Spirit is fully God, and part of the trinity of God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). He gives us power, abilities and comfort. But one of the most important roles of the Holy Spirit is that he guides us into all truth. He is the one who inspired the words of the Bible to many different authors.
We may feel we cannot understand the Bible because we don’t understand the background, or we don’t have much experience reading it. But the Holy Spirit himself tells us what the Bible means. Basically, he is the author of the Bible. Imagine reading a book while sitting next to the author! You could ask what the writer meant, and how you should respond to what you read. That is what we have with the Holy Spirit. He is the inspiration and author of God’s word. He is sitting with us, ready to explain to us the truth about God. Because we have such a wonderful helper, let’s ask the Holy Spirit to explain God’s truth to us as we read the Bible. He gives us a wisdom that is beyond our human limits and explains the depths of God’s spiritual realities.
